I spent the bulk of my trip in and around Landshut, a town about 80 km outside of Munich.
Pictured here are the two main architectural features of the town. The
towering St. Martin's cathedral and the schloss on the cliffs overlooking the
town. Schloss is German for "castle" or "palace" and although I did
not get a chance to actually visit this one I did discover that it was built originally in
the 13th century and continually added to through the 16th century. |

I found out by consulting the Fodor's guidebook that St. Martin's cathedral in
Landshut is the tallest brick building in the world at somewhere over 400 feet tall. |

One of the other interesting aspects of Landshut was the color of the houses that
lined these beautiful old cobblestone streets. Pastel yellows, greens and pinks were
everywhere, and with the fall leaves as a backdrop it was really an amazing sight. |
