Well, it all started in early October when my
then fiancé John left for Germany on business. I jokingly told him he'd better be back
in time for my birthday which was at the end of October. He was only going for
two
weeks so it would be no problem, he assured me. In fact he promised that he's be back
to spend my birthday with me. Of course the two week trip
stretched into three, and as it was looking like it would

stretch into four I had begun to give up hope
that he'd be back in time. He was not about to break a promise though and basically
told his boss that they'd either have to fly him home in time for my birthday, or fly me
out there. Friday morning I get a call from John, telling me that
they're cutting my tickets that day. I needed to get a passport on Monday so I
would be flying out the |

following Tuesday. Monday morning I went
down to the passport office in Boston and by noon I was the proud owner of a brand new US
passport. Tuesday afternoon I got on the plane in Boston and Wednesday morning (my
birthday) I landed at Munich Airport. I spent 5
lovely days in Germany and flew home on Halloween. |
